AI receptionist for Dubbo tradies

It answers while you’re out on a job, says it’s your assistant, books the routine work and texts you the urgent calls. We set it up over the phone from Wagga Wagga.

The short answer

OffsiteMate’s AI receptionist answers your phone when you can’t. Any hour, every day, NSW public holidays included, at the same price. It says it’s your assistant, takes the job details, books routine work at times you’re free and texts you emergencies straight away, then rings you.

It’s A$299 a month for a sole trader, with 100 minutes and 150 texts included, plus A$299 once to set up. We’re based in Wagga Wagga and do the setup with you by phone. You keep your number.

Dubbo’s phone rings from a long way out

The NSW Government’s regional plan calls Dubbo “a major service centre for much of western NSW”. Dubbo Regional Council puts the city’s catchment at over 125,000 people. The Dubbo urban area itself had 42,452 people at 30 June 2025 (ABS estimate).

The landline numbers say the same. Under the national numbering plan, Dubbo’s 02 68 numbers share their range with Bourke, Nyngan, Coonamble, Parkes, Forbes, Condobolin and Wellington, plus parts of the Moree district such as Lightning Ridge and Walgett. A call from an 02 68 number could be from round the corner or a few towns away.

The ABS counted 1,124 construction businesses in the Dubbo Regional Council area at 30 June 2025. When you’re on the road between jobs, the assistant picks up and gets the name, the town, what’s wrong and how urgent it is. Routine work goes into ServiceM8, Fergus, Google Calendar or Outlook, with the travel gap you’ve asked for between jobs.

The ute does the kilometres. The assistant does the phone.

Public holidays, Dubbo and further out

Dubbo Regional Council has no local public holiday on the NSW lists for 2026 or 2027. A few other Central West and Orana shires do. Your assistant answers on every one of them at the same price, and only books jobs on days your hours include.

Dates from NSW Industrial Relations’ public holidays and local public holidays pages, read October 2026. Each local holiday covers only the area named in its order. NSW adds local holidays as they’re declared, so the 2027 list is still short. Local event days aren’t public holidays, and none on the 2026 or 2027 lists is in the Central West or Orana. We add the next dates as they’re announced.

Three calls that start with someone else

Some faults are the network’s before they’re yours. Want your assistant to mention one of these numbers? Text us and we’ll add it.

  • Power out, or a line down

Essential Energy, on 13 20 80, open 24 hours a day, every day of the year. It’s the company the council names for the street lights across the Dubbo Regional Council area.

  • A burst main or a sewer backing up

Dubbo Regional Council, on (02) 6801 4000. Outside office hours it diverts to an emergency line. Past the meter the water is the owner’s, and so are the sewer pipes up to the boundary connection. For a suspected leak, the council’s own advice is to ring a plumber.

  • A gas smell

Jemena, on 131 909, any time of day, 7 days a week. The NSW Government lists Jemena as the gas network for the Central West and Orana, and says gas pipes don’t run down every street.

From Essential Energy’s contact page, Dubbo Regional Council’s contact, sewer, water and street lighting pages, the NSW Government’s gas network list and Jemena’s gas safety page, read October 2026. Not sure who supplies a property’s power or gas? The NSW Government says it’s at the top of the bill. For storm and flood damage, the council lists the SES on 132 500.

Dubbo in January

The Bureau of Meteorology’s figures for Dubbo Airport put the average January top at 33.7°C, and February’s at 32.1°C.

If air con is your trade, it pays to decide early which calls can’t wait. An air con that’s died on a January arvo might be one you want texted to you straight away. A quote for a second split system can wait for a booking.

You tell us where the line sits. Moving it later takes a text.

When a customer asks for your licence

In NSW you need a licence for any electrical wiring work, and for any plumbing, draining or gasfitting work, whatever the job costs (Building Commission NSW). Customers can check one on Service NSW’s Verify.licence.

Send us your licence number and the assistant gives it to anyone who asks. It answers from what you’ve told us, the same way it gives your prices and the towns you cover.

What it costs

The price doesn’t change with the postcode. Pick the one for how many people work in the business.

What Dubbo tradies ask

Do you have an office in Dubbo?

No. We’re in Wagga Wagga, NSW, and we set tradies up anywhere in Australia by phone. Ring us on 0468 075 000 and a human answers.

Can it handle customers from out of town?

Yes. It answers whoever rings your number. Tell us the towns you cover and the gap you need between jobs, and it only books inside that. Anything outside it, it takes their details for you to ring back.

Does it keep up with daylight saving?

Yes. It runs on your local time. NSW clocks went forward at 2am on Sunday 4 October 2026 and go back at 3am on Sunday 4 April 2027, and bookings, reminders and the 9am rule for night-time texts move with them.

Will it book jobs on show days?

Only if your hours include them. Text us the days you’re off, local show days included, and it won’t book them.

Can I keep my 02 68 number?

Yes. Your number stays with your phone company and forwards to your assistant’s own Australian mobile number. Landlines forward differently to mobiles, so ring us and we’ll sort it out with you and your provider.

How much is an AI receptionist in Dubbo?

A$299 a month for a sole trader, with 100 minutes and 150 texts included, plus A$299 once to set up. Teams of 2 to 4 pay A$449 a month, and 5 to 10 pay A$799. No GST is added.
