AI receptionist for Darwin tradies

It answers on Darwin time when you can’t, tells callers it’s your assistant and books the routine jobs. The urgent ones get texted to you. Set up by phone from Wagga.

The short answer

Our AI receptionist answers a Darwin tradie’s phone whenever the tradie can’t, any hour, Territory public holidays included. It says it’s your assistant, gets the job details, books routine work into your free times and texts you the emergencies before ringing you.

For a sole trader it’s A$299 a month with 100 minutes and 150 texts, plus A$299 once to set up. We’re based in Wagga Wagga, NSW, and set you up over the phone.

Darwin had 145,019 people at 30 June 2025 (ABS estimate), and the ABS counted 2,326 construction businesses across Greater Darwin. Plenty of other phones for a customer to try.

Darwin’s clock stays put. The south moves around it.

The Northern Territory doesn’t use daylight saving, and nor do Queensland or WA, the Fair Work Ombudsman says. New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania and the ACT do. This season their clocks went forward at 2am on Sunday 4 October 2026 and go back at 3am on Sunday 4 April 2027 (NSW Government).

Between those two Sundays, the gap between Darwin and Sydney, Melbourne or Adelaide grows by an hour, and the gap to Brisbane stays the same. We’re in Wagga, on the NSW clock, so from October to April we’re further ahead of you than usual.

Your assistant only cares about Darwin time. Bookings and reminders follow your hours, and a booking text that would land at night waits until 9am on your clock.

Northern Territory public holidays, 2026 and 2027

Your assistant answers on every one of these. Text us the ones you take off and it won’t book work on them.

Picnic Day, May Day and two 7pm starts

There’s no Labour Day on the Territory’s list: it has May Day, a Monday in early May. Picnic Day is a Monday in early August, and Darwin Show Day lands on a Friday in late July, for the Darwin region only.

Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve turn into part-day public holidays from 7pm to midnight. Your assistant has never heard of penalty rates, so those calls come out of your normal monthly minutes.

Who your Darwin customer rings when it’s not you

Power and Water looks after power, water and sewerage, so most fault calls go to one number. Text us if you want your assistant to give it out.

  • Power, water and sewer faults

Power and Water, 1800 245 092. That covers a blackout, a burst main or a sewer problem. Check its outages page first.

  • Fallen lines and damaged equipment

Power and Water’s emergency line, 1800 245 090. Triple zero for anything life-threatening. In a big event, SecureNT is the first stop for updates.

  • Gas leaks

NT WorkSafe says: turn off appliances and pilot lights, open up, get out and ring triple zero for Fire and Emergency Services, then the gas supplier’s emergency number.

From Power and Water’s getting reconnected, service line, and safety and emergencies pages, and NT WorkSafe’s gas safety page. All read October 2026.

In the Territory, the shock call goes to the sparky

NT WorkSafe tells anyone who gets an electric shock or tingle to get medical help if they need it, then call their licensed electrical contractor to find the cause and make the area safe. Tenants go through the landlord’s electrician. NT WorkSafe also says serious and dangerous electrical events must be notified to the Electrical Safety Regulator.

So in Darwin, NT WorkSafe’s advice sends the tingle from the shower tap at 10pm straight to you. Tell us to treat shocks and tingles as emergencies and your assistant will text you straight away, then ring you.

Storm damage ends with a sparky too. If the service line on the house gets pulled away, Power and Water makes it safe, then won’t reconnect until a Territory licensed electrician has inspected the property and issued a Certificate of Compliance. In a major outage it may ask for the certificate to be left in the meter box.

The wet season, by the Bureau’s numbers

At Darwin Airport, January averages 432.1 mm of rain, with 19 days of 1 mm or more. In June, July and August the median rainfall is 0.0 mm. The Bureau of Meteorology says the monsoon usually reaches Darwin in the last week of December, and the official cyclone season runs from 1 November to 30 April.

Its rainfall onset outlook for the 2026 to 2027 wet season, issued 27 August 2026, gave the Top End a 55 to 80% chance of the rains starting later than normal. The onset is the day 50 mm has fallen since 1 September.

Checking a licence in the NT

Territory Services checks electrical contractor licences for NT WorkSafe, by name, licence number or registered location, and shows whether a licence is current. NT WorkSafe says a licensed electrical worker has to be employed by someone else and can’t invoice a customer. That takes a licensed electrical contractor, which is also who issues certificates of compliance.

The Plumbers and Drainers Licensing Board lists current licensed plumbers and drainers on its website, and checks by phone on 1800 193 111. It says a journeyman isn’t a licensed plumber and can’t contract directly with a customer. Builders are on the Public Register of Building Practitioners. Text us your licence number and your assistant will give it to any customer who asks.

What it costs

Darwin pays the same as Wagga. The plan depends on how many people work in the business.
