AI receptionist for Tamworth tradies

It picks up when you can’t, says it’s your assistant, books the routine work and texts you anything urgent. We set it up with you over the phone.

The short answer

OffsiteMate is an AI receptionist for tradies. In Tamworth it answers your phone when you’re on the tools: any hour, NSW public holidays included, at the same price. It tells callers it’s your assistant, gets the job details, books routine work at times you’re free and texts you emergencies straight away.

It’s A$299 a month for a sole trader, with 100 minutes and 150 texts included, plus A$299 once to set up. We’re in Wagga Wagga and do the whole setup by phone. You keep your number.

Tamworth and the 02 67 country

The NSW Government’s regional plan names Tamworth and Armidale as the busiest centres in the New England North West. The Tamworth urban area had 46,024 people at 30 June 2025 (ABS estimate). The ABS counted 1,117 construction businesses across the Tamworth Regional Council area at the same date.

Under the national numbering plan, Tamworth’s 02 67 landlines share their range with Armidale, Barraba, Glen Innes, Gunnedah, Inverell and Narrabri, plus part of the Moree district. Your number stays yours. It forwards to the assistant, and you never touch any software.

Whoever rings, they can’t see you’re halfway up a ladder. The assistant picks up anyway.

Leak alerts, and the call that comes next

Tamworth Regional Council finished putting in more than 23,000 automatic water meters across the council area in late 2023. Owners and tenants who sign up to its free MyTRC Water portal can set alerts for high use and leaks, sent by text or email.

When an alert lands, council’s advice is to find the leak as soon as you can and fix it yourself if you’re able. If you can’t, you may need a plumber. For a big leak, turn the water off at the meter, which is usually at the front of the property.

That’s where the plumber’s phone rings, with a caller who doesn’t know where the leak is yet. If you’re under someone else’s house at the time, your assistant takes the details and books it in, or texts you straight away if it’s one of your emergencies.

When a pressure sewer alarm goes off

Some Tamworth homes are on low pressure sewer, including new ones in the Hills Plains development: a buried pump unit in the yard and an alarm panel on a wall or post. Council owns and runs the unit, the panel and the pipework to the street, and says not to repair the unit yourself. Here’s its process for a customer whose alarm is going. Want your assistant to talk callers through it? Text us.

  1. Silence it

There’s a button under the alarm panel. The light stays on until council has fixed the unit.

  2. Check for a blackout

The alarm doesn’t sound during a power cut. When the power comes back it can go off while the tank catches up, so wait about an hour.

  3. Ring council, any hour

On (02) 6767 5555. Council staff assess it, and repairs are usually done the next morning unless it can’t wait.

  4. Go easy on the water

No washing machine or dishwasher until it’s fixed. Council says the tank holds about 430 litres above the alarm level.

Plumbing paperwork goes to council here

Building Commission NSW audits plumbing and drainage work in Sydney, the Illawarra, the Blue Mountains and the Newcastle and Hunter area. In regional NSW, inspections and enforcement are handed to local councils, and in Tamworth that’s Tamworth Regional Council.

Council says work covered by section 68 of the Local Government Act, such as water plumbing connected to its supply or sewerage work connected to its sewer, needs its approval before work starts. It also does the hot and cold water pressure test, the drainage tests and the final inspection itself, even when it isn’t the principal certifier.

Your assistant can’t book a council inspection. It can stop the customer calls going to voicemail while you’re on the phone to council.

Customers can check a NSW trade licence on Service NSW’s Verify.licence. Send us your licence number and the assistant gives it to anyone who asks.

NSW public holidays, plus Walcha and Scone

Tamworth tradies ask us

Do you have an office in Tamworth?

No. We work from Wagga Wagga, NSW, and do every setup over the phone, wherever the tradie is. Ring us on 0468 075 000 and a human answers.

Can it give callers council’s pressure sewer number?

Yes, if you want it to. Text us what you’d like it to say and we’ll add it. Anything it hasn’t been told, it says so and takes their details for you to ring back.

Can I keep my 02 67 number?

Yes, it stays with your phone company. Calls forward to your assistant’s own Australian mobile number. If it’s a landline or a phone system, ring us first, because those forward differently to a mobile and we’ll work it out with you and your provider.
