Brisbane’s clock is the easy part, because Queensland doesn’t change it. The Ekka holiday takes more explaining, since it stops at the City of Brisbane boundary.
Queensland doesn’t use daylight saving. New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania and the ACT do: their clocks go forward at 2am on the first Sunday in October and back at 3am on the first Sunday in April (Fair Work Ombudsman, read October 2026).
Your assistant runs on your time zone and your hours. Bookings, reminders and the rule that a night-time text waits until 9am all go by your local time. In Brisbane, that’s the same clock in January as in July.

The Royal Queensland Show public holiday, the Ekka Wednesday, is for the City of Brisbane. In 2026 it was Wednesday 12 August. Logan, Moreton Bay and Redland had their Royal Queensland Show holiday on Monday 10 August instead, and Ipswich took its show holiday on 15 May for the Ipswich Show.
So two customers either side of a council boundary can have different days off in the same week. Your assistant answers on all of them, and only books the days you’ve said you work.
The 2027 Ekka holiday for the City of Brisbane is Wednesday 11 August. The Queensland Government lists each council’s show holidays a year at a time, and 2027’s weren’t up when we checked in October 2026.
Some calls are really the network’s problem. These are the numbers to have handy for Brisbane customers. If you’d like your assistant to mention one, text us and we’ll add it.

QBCC licences can be looked up on the QBCC’s online registers, which also cover plumbers, certifiers and pools. That’s the Queensland Building and Construction Commission, on 139 333.
Electrical licences sit with the Electrical Safety Office, and WorkSafe Queensland’s site has a search for electrical contractor licence numbers.
If a customer asks your assistant for your licence number, it can only give what we’ve told it. Text it to us and it’ll have it.
