AI receptionist for Sydney tradies

It picks up on Sydney time when you can’t, says it’s your assistant, books the routine jobs and texts you the emergencies. We set it up over the phone from Wagga Wagga.

The short answer

OffsiteMate’s AI receptionist answers the phone for Sydney tradies when they can’t: any hour, every day, NSW public holidays included, at the same price. It says it’s your assistant, finds out what the job is, books routine work at times you’re free and texts you emergencies straight away.

We’re in Wagga Wagga, not Sydney. There’s no office to drop into, and you won’t need one. We set it up with you over the phone and it’s live within a few days.

It’s A$299 a month for a sole trader, with 100 minutes and 150 texts included, plus A$299 once to set up.

On Sydney time, daylight saving and all

It runs on your time zone and your hours. Bookings, reminders and the rule that a night-time text waits until 9am all go by your local time.

NSW daylight saving started at 2am on Sunday 4 October 2026 and finishes at 3am on Sunday 4 April 2027 (NSW Government, read October 2026). Your local time includes it, so 9am is 9am on your clock either side of the change.

Wagga runs on the same clock as Sydney all year. When we say we’ll ring you at 10, it’s your 10.

NSW public holidays, 2026 and 2027

Your assistant answers on every one of them at the same price. It only books jobs on a public holiday if your hours include it, so text us the days you’re off.

Dates from the NSW Government’s public holidays page, read October 2026. None of the local public holidays NSW has declared for 2026 or 2027 are in Sydney; they’re in regional and rural areas. The Bank Holiday on the first Monday in August closes bank branches, but it isn’t a public holiday.

Your customer has other numbers to try

The ABS counted 107,079 construction businesses in Greater Sydney at 30 June 2025 (ABS Data by Region, read October 2026). A customer whose call rings out has options.

So the assistant picks up, gets their name, suburb, what’s wrong and how urgent it is, and books routine work into ServiceM8, Fergus, Google Calendar or Outlook.

Emergencies get texted to you straight away, then it rings you. Rather answer yourself when you can? It can ring your phone first and only pick up when you don’t.

Fault lines your Sydney customers need

When the fault is on the network’s side, it’s the network’s job. These are the lines your customer rings, and each one answers around the clock.

CoversFault line
Ausgrid (power)Sydney, the Central Coast and the Hunter Valley13 13 88
Endeavour Energy (power)Greater Western Sydney, the Blue Mountains, the Southern Highlands, the Illawarra, the South Coast and Central West NSW131 003
Jemena (gas)The gas network across Sydney and greater NSW131 909
Sydney WaterSydney, the Blue Mountains and the Illawarra13 20 90

From each company’s own pages, read October 2026: Ausgrid’s contact and network pages, Endeavour Energy’s home and contact pages, Jemena’s gas safety and network pages, and Sydney Water’s contact and faults pages. Not sure which power network a street is on? Ausgrid’s site has a postcode checker.

Whose side of the meter?

Sydney Water says a leak between the water meter and the building is a job for a licensed plumber. A leaking meter, or a leak between the meter and the street, it may fix itself.

Same with sewage. If it only backs up while water’s being used on the property, Sydney Water says get a licensed plumber to assess it. If it overflows when nothing’s running, it says treat it as an emergency and ring 13 20 90.

Ausgrid takes reports of outages, partial loss of power, flickering lights and loss of hot water. Jemena tells anyone who smells gas to turn off anything that could light it, leave, and report it on 131 909.

Your assistant takes the details and texts you anything urgent. Want it to point callers to one of these lines as well? Text us and we’ll set it up.

“Are you licensed?”

In NSW, licences for trade work, from electrical to plumbing, draining and gasfitting, are run by Building Commission NSW. Customers can check one on Service NSW’s Verify.licence.

Your assistant answers from what you’ve told us. Send us your licence number and it gives it to anyone who asks, the same way it gives your prices and your area.

Sydney tradies ask us

Do you have an office in Sydney?

No. We’re based in Wagga Wagga, NSW, and set up tradies anywhere in Australia by phone. Ring us on 0468 075 000 and a human answers.

Is this a virtual receptionist?

Yes, an AI one. It answers as your business in an Australian voice and says it’s your assistant. Real people set it up and read what it says.

Does it answer on NSW public holidays?

Yes, any hour, at the same price. It only books jobs on a public holiday if your hours include it.

Can I keep my 02 number?

Yes. 02 is the landline area code for most of NSW and the ACT, and your number stays with your phone company. It forwards to your assistant’s own Australian mobile number. Landlines and phone systems forward differently to mobiles, so ring us and we’ll sort it out with you and your provider.

How much is an AI receptionist in Sydney?

Ours costs the same anywhere in Australia: A$299 a month for a sole trader, with 100 minutes and 150 texts included, plus A$299 to set up. No GST added, month to month.
