AI receptionist for Cairns tradies

It answers while you’re up a ladder in the rain, tells callers it’s your assistant and slots the routine work into your week. Emergencies come straight to you by text.

The short answer

Our AI receptionist picks up a Cairns tradie’s calls when the tradie can’t, any hour and every day. It tells callers it’s your assistant, finds out what the job is, books routine work into the times you’re free and texts you the emergencies, then rings you.

A sole trader pays A$299 a month, which covers 100 minutes and 150 texts, and A$299 once for setup. We work from Wagga Wagga, NSW, and do the whole setup with you on the phone.

Cairns had 164,149 people at 30 June 2025 (ABS estimate), and the ABS counted 2,699 construction businesses in the Cairns council area. A missed call has somewhere else to go.

When it buckets down, the water plant stops

Cairns Regional Council says heavy rain can make the creek water too cloudy to treat, and the Freshwater Creek plant then shuts itself down until staff restart it. When we read its water page in October 2026, three of its largest reservoirs were offline or running at reduced capacity, so those shutdowns hit harder, and temporary water restrictions can follow a heavy rain event.

The council also says water main breaks are more common while the reservoirs are offline, because water runs straight from the plant into the mains and the pressure swings. A new treatment plant at Gordonvale is due to start in February 2027.

So some of the low-pressure and no-water calls in the wet aren’t a plumbing job yet. The council asks people to ring it on 1300 69 22 47 if supply doesn’t come back, the pressure stays low or the water stays discoloured, and to turn hot water systems off during an outage so they aren’t damaged.

Numbers worth having for Cairns customers

When it’s the network’s fault, these are the people to ring. If you’d like your assistant to mention one, text us.

  • Shocks, tingles, fallen powerlines

Ergon, 13 16 70, any hour. If someone’s hurt, triple zero first. A crew comes out to find the cause, network or house wiring.

  • No power, or no hot water

Ergon, 13 22 96, any hour. For cold hot water, Ergon wants the first call, and that can save the customer the electrician’s bill.

  • Burst water or sewer mains

Cairns Regional Council, 1300 69 22 47, all hours, for urgent and hazardous water and sewer problems.

  • A temporary repairs card

If the council leaves a Notification of Temporary Repairs Card, the owner gets a licensed plumber to check the property side, at their own cost.

  • Gas

Queensland says the supplier’s emergency number is on the gas bill, in the top right-hand corner, under emergencies or leaking gas.

  • Floods and big storms

The council’s Disaster Coordination Centre is on 1300 396 102 when it’s activated. Cairns SES is on 132 500.

From Cairns Regional Council’s, Ergon’s and the Queensland Government’s own pages, read October 2026.

Cold shower? Ergon first, then the sparky

Ergon asks anyone with no hot water to ring its fault line, 13 22 96, before they ring an electrician. If the fault looks like Ergon’s, it sends a crew. If not, it tells the customer to get an electrical contractor in.

For a Cairns sparky, the detail to ask about is the approval number. When Ergon issues one for an electrician to check a cold hot water job and the fault turns out to be on Ergon’s network, the customer isn’t charged. The electrician claims the fee from Ergon, capped at A$250 excluding GST, after hours and weekends included. Without an approval number, the customer pays the invoice in full.

Want your assistant to ask cold-shower callers whether they’ve rung Ergon? Text us and we’ll add the question.

Queensland public holidays, 2026 and 2027, and the Cairns Show

Your assistant works through every one of these at the normal price. Tell us which days you take off and it won’t book jobs on them.

Cairns ShowFriday 17 JulySet each year by the Queensland Government

From the Queensland Government’s public holiday and show holiday pages, read October 2026. The Cairns Show holiday also covers Mareeba Shire, apart from some parishes, and eight other shires, Yarrabah and Aurukun among them. Douglas Shire takes Monday 20 July for the Mossman Show instead. Show holidays are set a year at a time. We add the next dates as they’re announced.

Checking a licence in Cairns

The QBCC’s licensee register shows the history of a licensed individual or company, and its other registers cover plumbers, pools and certifiers. Its Cairns service centre is at 104 to 106 Mulgrave Road, Parramatta Park, open 9am to 5pm weekdays (139 333).

Electrical contractor licences can be checked on WorkSafe Queensland’s electrical licence search, and gasfitters on the RSHQ Portal. Send us your licence numbers and your assistant will give them to customers who ask.

Cairns questions

Do you have an office in Cairns?

No. We work from Wagga Wagga, NSW, and do every setup by phone, wherever the tradie is. Ring us on 0468 075 000 and a human picks up.

Will it answer on the Cairns Show holiday?

Yes, at the normal price. Tell us which days you’re off and it won’t book jobs on them.

Do I need a Cairns phone number?

No. Your number stays yours and gets forwarded to your assistant’s own Australian mobile number. In the national numbering plan, Cairns district landlines start (07) 40, 42, 70 or 72. A landline or phone system forwards differently to a mobile, so ring us and we’ll get it sorted with your provider.

Is this a virtual receptionist or a person?

An AI assistant, with an Australian voice. It tells callers it’s your assistant, takes the details and books the work. It doesn’t transfer calls; it takes the caller’s number for you to ring back.

What does an AI receptionist cost in Cairns?

Cairns or anywhere else, it’s A$299 a month for a sole trader (100 minutes, 150 texts) plus A$299 setup. Crews of 2 to 4 are A$449 a month, 5 to 10 are A$799, and there’s no GST on top.
