AI receptionist for Alice Springs tradies

It answers on Alice Springs time when you can’t get to the phone, says it’s your assistant, books the routine work and texts you the urgent calls. We set it up by phone from Wagga.

The short answer

OffsiteMate is an AI receptionist for tradies. In Alice Springs it answers your phone on NT time when you can’t, any hour, Show Day included. It says it’s your assistant, books routine jobs at times you’re free and texts you emergencies straight away.

It’s A$299 a month for a sole trader, with 100 minutes and 150 texts included, plus A$299 once to set up. We’re in Wagga Wagga, NSW, a fair way from Todd Street, and we set you up over the phone.

Alice had 30,875 people at 30 June 2025 (ABS estimate), and the ABS counted 388 construction businesses in the Alice Springs council area. That’s a lot of other numbers for a customer to try after your voicemail.

Public holidays in Alice Springs, 2026 and 2027

The NT list, with Alice’s own Show Day. Your assistant answers on all of them at the same price, and only books jobs on a holiday if your hours include it.

Dates from the NT Government’s public and regional holidays page (nt.gov.au), read October 2026. NT public holidays come under the Public Holidays Act 1981.

Show Day is Alice’s own

Alice Springs Show Day is a regional holiday. The NT Government says regional holidays only apply to the regions holding their annual show, and Darwin’s Show Day comes three weeks after Alice’s: Friday 24 July 2026 and Friday 23 July 2027.

So if you buy from a Darwin supplier, their day off and yours fall in different weeks. Your assistant skips both shows. Someone has to mind the phone.

Two more on the NT list are worth knowing. Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve are part-day holidays, from 7pm to midnight. And in 2027, with Anzac Day on a Sunday, the NT’s public holiday is Monday 26 April.

Alice keeps one clock all year

The NT doesn’t use daylight saving. South Australia, NSW, Victoria, Tasmania and the ACT do (Fair Work Ombudsman). This season their clocks went forward on Sunday 4 October 2026 and go back on Sunday 4 April 2027 (NSW Government), so for those six months the gap between Alice and Adelaide grows by an hour. So does the gap to us in Wagga.

Your assistant runs on your time zone and your hours. Bookings, reminders and the rule that a night-time text waits until 9am all go by Alice Springs time, in January and in July.

When we ring you from Wagga, we’ll do the sums first.

When a storm brings the lines down

In October 2026, Power and Water reported significant and widespread damage to the power network across Central Australia: fallen lines, damaged poles and trees down. It brought in extra crews from Darwin, Tennant Creek and Katherine.

Where a storm has pulled the service line off a house, Power and Water won’t reconnect until an NT licensed electrician has inspected the property and provided a Certificate of Compliance. If you’re the sparky those customers ring, the calls can come in faster than anyone can answer them from a ladder.

Your assistant takes each one, with the address and what’s happened, and books the inspections into times you’re free. Anything you’ve told us counts as urgent gets texted to you straight away, then it rings you.

Power and Water’s steps after storm damage

From its pages on service lines and getting reconnected. If a line is down and someone could be hurt, the first call is triple zero or Power and Water’s emergency line, 1800 245 090.

  1. Line down from the pole

Check Power and Water’s outages page. If the property isn’t listed, report the fault on 1800 245 092, and Power and Water restores the power.

  2. Line pulled off the house, or flooding

An NT licensed electrician inspects the property and confirms it’s safe.

  3. A Certificate of Compliance

The electrician provides one. Power and Water needs it before the power can go back on.

  4. Reconnection

Ring 1800 245 092 to arrange it. During major outages, Power and Water may ask for the certificate to be left in the meter box instead.

Numbers to keep for Alice Springs customers

Power and Water runs both the power network and the water and sewer in Alice. Want your assistant to mention any of these? Text us and we’ll add it.

  • A serious power or water problem

Power and Water, 1800 245 090, any time. Triple zero if someone’s in danger.

  • Worried about electrical work

NT WorkSafe’s Electrical Safety team, 1800 019 115, for concerns about the safety of electrical work done on a property.

  • Sewage coming up outside

When a sewer blocks, the grate on the overflow relief gully pops so the spill happens outside, not in the house. Power and Water says owners look after sewer fittings up to the connection point, and on new properties the gully must sit at least 150mm above the ground.

From Power and Water’s about, electricity service line, overflow relief gully and news pages, and the NT Government’s electrical safety at home page, all read 13 October 2026.

Hot January days, cold July nights

The Bureau of Meteorology’s figures for Alice Springs Airport, using records back to 1941: a mean maximum of 36.6°C in January and a mean minimum of 3.9°C in July.

If you fix air con or heaters, you’ll have your own view on what that does to the phone. You decide which calls count as urgent, say no cooling in January, and your assistant texts you those straight away. The rest get booked in at times you’re free.

Checking an NT licence

Electricians in the NT must be licensed. Territory Services runs a licence check for NT WorkSafe that searches by name or licence number and shows whether a licence is current.

Builders are on the Building Practitioners Board’s public register. Plumbers must be licensed too, and the Plumbers and Drainers Licensing Board keeps the list of NT plumbers.

Licensed interstate and taking a job in Alice? The NT Government says to notify before you work under automatic mutual recognition: NT WorkSafe for electrical and gasfitting, and Occupational Licensing for plumbing and building.

Send us your licence number and your assistant gives it to anyone who asks.

Alice Springs questions

Do you have an office in Alice Springs?

No. We’re in Wagga Wagga, NSW, and we set tradies up anywhere in Australia by phone. You keep your number and never touch the software.

Does it change for daylight saving?

No, because the NT doesn’t. It runs on your local time, so nothing moves in October or April.

Will it answer on Show Day?

Yes. It answers every day, public holidays included, at the same price. It only books jobs on Show Day if your hours include it.

Can I keep my 08 89 number?

Yes. The national numbering plan puts Alice Springs and Darwin on 08 89, along with 08 29 and 08 79, and your number stays with your phone company. It forwards to your assistant’s own Australian mobile number. A landline forwards differently to a mobile, so ring us and we’ll sort it out with you and your provider.

Is it a virtual receptionist?

It does a virtual receptionist’s job with an AI assistant. It answers in an Australian voice, says it’s your assistant, gets the job details and books the work in.

How much is an AI receptionist in Alice Springs?

A$299 a month for a sole trader, with 100 minutes and 150 texts included, plus A$299 to set up. Teams of 2 to 4 pay A$449 a month, and 5 to 10 pay A$799. There’s no GST on top.
