Busselton Water may grant a leak allowance of up to half the water wasted by a hidden leak or burst: a broken pipe underground, inside a wall or under paving. To apply, the customer needs a digital copy of the repair invoice from a licensed plumber or a Waterwise Garden Irrigator.
The repair has to be done within 60 days of the customer being told or getting the high bill, the claim goes in within three months, and the lost water has to be worth more than A$250. Leaking taps, toilet cisterns, hot water systems, air conditioners, pools and spas don’t count.
