The council’s guide for property owners says unblocking a drain counts as minor work, which has to be done by a QBCC licensee. Notifiable work, which covers most plumbing in existing homes, has to be registered with the QBCC within 10 business days of finishing it.
The QBCC runs the licensee register for builders and trade contractors, plus a separate register for occupational plumbers and drainers, and a notifiable work register that shows whether plumbing work has been registered for an address.
Electrical contractor licences are searched through WorkSafe Queensland’s Electrical Safety Office. Gas fitters are on the Resources Safety and Health Queensland portal, which doesn’t need an account to search.
Your assistant only knows what you’ve told us, so text us the licence number and it’ll read it out to anyone who asks for it.
