SA’s standard time is 9 hours 30 minutes ahead of Coordinated Universal Time (SafeWork SA). Victoria keeps eastern standard time, the same clock as NSW, 10 hours ahead. Both states change their clocks on the same Sundays, forward on 4 October 2026 and back on 4 April 2027 (SafeWork SA and Business Victoria), so Mount Gambier stays half an hour behind Victoria all year.

Energy Safe Victoria says an electrician who lives in SA can work in Victoria on their SA licence under automatic mutual recognition, once they’ve notified Energy Safe. Electrical work in Victoria without a Victorian licence or that notification counts as unlicensed work, whatever licence you hold at home.
