Queensland doesn’t use daylight saving. NSW does: its clocks went forward an hour at 2am on Sunday 4 October 2026 and go back at 3am on Sunday 4 April 2027 (NSW Government, read October 2026). Tweed Heads goes with NSW. The Gold Coast stays put.
Tweed Shire Council lists its phone hours as 8:30am to 4:30pm, NSW time. Someone has clearly asked.

The Royal Queensland Show holiday is for Brisbane, not the Gold Coast. NSW’s Bank Holiday on the first Monday in August isn’t a public holiday, and NSW lists no local public holiday for the Tweed in 2026 or 2027. Queensland publishes show holidays a year at a time, and 2027’s weren’t up when we checked. We add the next dates as they’re announced.

Energex covers the Queensland side, from the border up to Gympie. Ring 13 19 62 for shocks, tingles and powerlines down, or 13 62 62 when the power’s out. Both answer any hour.
Essential Energy, 13 20 80, for electrical emergencies and outages, open every day of the year. That’s where Tweed Shire Council’s emergency page sends people for power outages.
Allgas, 1800 427 532, for leaks, a gas smell or carbon monoxide worries. Its network covers Brisbane south of the river and the Gold Coast, and runs into northern NSW.
City of Gold Coast runs it. Burst mains and big leaks on public land go to 07 5667 5801 or 1300 000 928. The council takes other urgent problems any hour on 1300 465 326.
Tweed Shire Council, 02 6670 2400. Out of hours that number goes to an after-hours service for sewer blockages, overflows and serious water supply problems.
Before You Dig Australia, on 1100, is free and marks gas lines near the job. The company that runs the gas network says to lodge an enquiry at least two business days before digging.

City of Gold Coast looks after the sewer from the main to the connection point on the property. If nobody can find the connection point, it’s one metre inside the boundary. Past that, it’s the owner’s drain.
If a plumber finds the blockage is in the city’s main, the city may pay back part of the plumber’s costs. That’s usually an hour of labour and a quarter of an hour of CCTV or jet rodding, capped at A$300 including GST. The plumber has to ring 1300 000 928 the same day the blockage is found, before claiming, then applies to the city instead of invoicing the owner.
On a blocked drain call, your assistant asks the questions you’ve told it to ask, like whether the overflow gully outside is spilling. It texts you the urgent ones straight away.
A customer checks your licence with your state’s regulator. If you work both sides, send us both licence numbers and your assistant gives out whichever one a caller asks for.

The ABS counted 15,355 construction businesses in the City of Gold Coast at 30 June 2025, more than any other industry on its list (ABS Data by Region, read October 2026). Tweed Shire had another 2,094, and that figure covers the whole shire, Murwillumbah included.
