AI receptionist for Central Coast tradies

It answers when you’re on a roof or under a house, says it’s your assistant, books the routine jobs and texts you the urgent ones. We set it up by phone from Wagga Wagga.

The short answer

OffsiteMate’s AI receptionist answers the phone for Central Coast tradies when they can’t. It tells callers it’s your assistant, finds out what’s wrong and where, and books routine work at times you’re free. Emergencies get texted to you straight away, then it rings you.

A sole trader pays A$299 a month, with 100 minutes and 150 texts included, plus A$299 once to set up. We’re in Wagga Wagga and do the setup with you over the phone.

The Coast does a couple of things its own way. The council runs the water and sewer and inspects the plumbing, and Ausgrid has changed how off-peak hot water gets switched on. Both change who your customer should be ringing.

The council is the water company

Sydney has Sydney Water and Newcastle has Hunter Water. On the Central Coast, water and sewer are run by Central Coast Council.

The council says it’s responsible for the water meter, the meter tap and the pipes and inspection points leading to the point of connection. From the point of connection into the property, every pipe and fitting is the owner’s.

For urgent water and sewer problems, like a major leak or a sewer spill, the council’s number is 02 4306 7900. It also says more than 8,000 properties on the Coast can’t connect to its sewer and use on-site sewage systems instead.

A plumbing job, the council’s way

Building Commission NSW audits plumbing in Sydney, the Illawarra, the Blue Mountains and the Newcastle and Hunter area. The Central Coast sits outside it, and the council says on-site plumbing works here need an inspection by Central Coast Council. This is its process, in short.

  1. Apply and pay

Send the council its plumbing and drainage inspection application. It says it assesses it within 48 hours and sends an invoice, and inspections can’t be booked until that’s paid.

  2. Notice of work

At least two days before the plumber starts, signed by a licensed plumber.

  3. Book the inspection

At least 48 hours ahead, by email, the online booking form or (02) 4304 7689.

  4. Paperwork when it’s done

Within two days: a certificate of compliance to the council and the owner, and a drainage diagram of any sanitary drainage work for the council and the customer.

Who to ring on the Coast

These are the numbers your customers need when the problem is on the network’s side. Want your assistant to give one out? Text us and we’ll add it.

Central Coast CouncilUrgent water and sewer issues, such as major leaks and sewer spills02 4306 7900

From Ausgrid’s contact and network pages, Jemena’s gas network and gas safety pages, Central Coast Council’s water outages and emergency contacts pages, and the NSW SES’s safety page, read October 2026. Ausgrid covers Sydney, the Central Coast and the Hunter Valley, and Jemena lists the Central Coast among the areas its gas network supplies.

Off-peak hot water has changed

Ausgrid says that from mid-July 2026 it is changing the controlled-load hot water system in parts of Sydney and the Central Coast. Under the change, it sends one signal a day to turn the hot water on and stops sending one to turn it off. The system’s own thermostat does the rest.

When a customer has no hot water, Ausgrid says the cause can be on its side or not. Its technician checks the relay at the meter and can bridge it. If the fault isn’t the meter or the relay, Ausgrid says the customer needs an electrician or a hot water specialist.

So a “no hot water” call might be yours or might be Ausgrid’s. If you’d like your assistant to ask whether the system is on off-peak before it books you, tell us.

Storm season starts about now

The NSW SES says storms are more likely between October and March. In the first half of 2024 its Wyong unit led the state with 570 storm incidents and 448 flood jobs, and Gosford came second on its list with 521 incidents. For roofers, we start with these as the calls that get texted to you straight away:

  • Water coming through the ceiling
  • Storm damage, tiles or sheets missing
  • Gutters overflowing into the house
  • Anything else you’ve told us is urgent

NSW public holidays, 2026 and 2027

Your assistant answers on all of them, same price. It books jobs on a holiday only if your hours say so.

From the NSW Government’s public holidays page, read October 2026. NSW hasn’t declared a local public holiday or a local event day in the Central Coast council area for 2026 or 2027. Daylight saving finishes at 3am on Sunday 4 April 2027 and starts again on the first Sunday in October.

Licences, and a local count

NSW needs a licence or certificate for any plumbing, draining or gasfitting work, whatever it costs and whether it’s residential, commercial or industrial. Building Commission NSW issues them, and customers can check one on the Contractor and tradespeople register on Verify NSW.

The ABS counted 6,529 construction businesses in the Central Coast (NSW) council area at 30 June 2025, 51 fewer than the 6,580 a year before (ABS Data by Region, read October 2026). The Central Coast urban area had 354,189 people at 30 June 2025 (ABS estimate). That’s still plenty of competition for a phone that rings out.

Your assistant answers from what you’ve told us. Text us your licence number and it will give it to anyone who asks.

Set up for your trade

A roofer in storm season and a painter in a dry spell want different calls texted to them. Each trade page shows where we start.

Central Coast tradies ask us

Do you have an office on the Central Coast?

No. We’re in Wagga Wagga, NSW, and set up tradies anywhere in Australia by phone. Ring us on 0468 075 000 and a human answers.

Is it a virtual receptionist?

It does the job of one with an AI assistant. It answers as your business in an Australian voice and tells callers it’s your assistant. We set it up and read what it says.

Can I keep my 02 43 number?

Yes. In the national numbering plan, Gosford charging district numbers start (02) 43 or (02) 33. Your number stays with your phone company and forwards to your assistant’s own Australian mobile number. Landlines forward differently to mobiles, so ring us and we’ll sort it out with you and your provider.

Can it put calls through to me?

No. It takes their number and you ring back. Emergencies get texted to you straight away, then it rings you. If you’d rather answer when you can, it can ring your phone first and only pick up when you don’t.

What does an AI receptionist cost on the Central Coast?

Ours is A$299 a month for a sole trader with 100 minutes and 150 texts, plus A$299 to set up. Teams of 2 to 4 pay A$449 a month and 5 to 10 pay A$799. No GST on top.
