The Albury-Wodonga Development Corporation built it as a new suburb from the late 1970s. St Johns Hill was the first land release in 1978, followed by Corrys Wood, St Hilaire and Thurgoona Park through the 1980s. Charles Sturt University's Albury campus and Thurgoona Plaza came later.
It is a suburb of big family houses. At the 2021 Census 97% of its 3,772 occupied homes were separate houses, 58% had four or more bedrooms and 46% were being paid off. The bush corridors between estates hold a significant population of squirrel gliders, a threatened species in NSW.

EV chargers in double garages
Plenty of Thurgoona homes have a double garage with room for a charger. Tomo checks the switchboard and supply before quoting, so you know the charger and the house can share it.
Homes from the 1980s estates were wired before home offices and EV chargers were common. Extra circuits and safety switches can usually be added without starting over.
“Tomo looked at our switchboard before he quoted the car charger. The other bloke never did. Neat job, cable tucked out of the way, and he showed us how to set the charging times.”
